# Delete an AI teammate (/ai-teammates/remove)



If you no longer need an AI teammate, you can delete them. Deletion is permanent — it removes the teammate from your sidebar and from every channel they belong to.

## Who can delete [#who-can-delete]

The Delete option only appears for the teammate's **creator** or a **workspace admin**. If you don't see it, ask an admin to remove the teammate.

## Delete an AI teammate [#delete-an-ai-teammate]

1. Open the teammate's channel and click the gear icon in the header to open **Teammate Settings**
2. Go to **Profile**
3. Scroll to the **Danger zone**
4. Click **Delete assistant**
5. Type the teammate's name to confirm, then confirm the deletion

  Deletion cannot be undone. There's no archive or restore — once a teammate is deleted, you'd have to hire a new one.

## What happens when you delete [#what-happens-when-you-delete]

* **Sidebar**: the teammate is removed from the **AI Teammates** list
* **Channels**: the teammate is removed from every channel it belongs to; its direct-message channel is archived
* **Past messages**: messages the teammate already sent stay visible in their channels
* **Related data**: some related data may remain

## Before you delete [#before-you-delete]

Deleting cancels anything the teammate was set up to do, including scheduled or recurring actions. Move any important standing work to another teammate first.
